Lexington's fourth annual month-long events for AAPI Heritage Month turns into a year-long celebration
In 2023, a group of scrappy AAPI organizers in Lexington got together to put on events for the community celebrating the rich, multi-diverse culture of Asian American Pacific Islanders.
This year, we have dreams of expanding programming year-round celebrating the heritage of Asian Americans & Pacific Islanders.

AAPI Art Gallery Opening
A kick-off event to Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month in May featuring the artistic works of local AAPI visual artists. The event will include a poetry reading by Lisa Low, a Chinese American author, as the perfect nod to National Poetry Month in April + AAPI Heritage Month in May.

Movie Night

Poetry Reading & International Tea Tasting
Join us for an evening of poetry reading featuring brilliant local AAPI voices sharing original works that reflect culture, identity, and lived experience. You will also get to enjoy music and a short fashion show. Includes international tea tasting and small bites.

Ohana in Bloom: Movie Night at Gatton Park
Join us at Gatton Park for a free community movie night featuring the 2025 live-action film Lilo & Stitch. Guests can enjoy a curated vendor market, pre-show entertainment, and hands-on crafts before the film begins at dusk.
Bring a blanket, gather with friends and family, and settle in for a relaxed, family-friendly movie night under the stars.
